ThreadVault vs ChatExports: honest comparison (2026)
Both are one-time purchases that process your chats in the browser, but they work differently. ChatExports is a website that converts the official export files you download from each AI tool. ThreadVault is a Chrome extension that exports directly from the sites you are signed in to, with no waiting for an export email. ChatExports is available today; ThreadVault is not on the Chrome Web Store yet.

- You already have your official export files.

- You want to skip the official export wait (ChatGPT says it can take up to 7 days, and links expire after 24 hours).
- Markdown plus JSON for Obsidian is what you need, at a lower one-time price, and you can wait for launch.
