What ThreadVault is

ThreadVault is a browser extension that exports Perplexity threads you can already see while signed in. It turns those threads into Markdown and JSON on your device. Bulk export saves them in one ZIP. ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini are shown as coming soon and are not accessed in this version.

What stays on your device

Chat text, titles, and the files ThreadVault creates stay in your browser until you download them. The extension does not send chats, account details, or file contents to Loomwise or to any other server we operate. There is no ThreadVault account, no analytics, and no remote code.

How chats are read

Before the first library read, ThreadVault tells you that it will read your Perplexity threads from a tab you are signed into and save them on this device. The read starts when you choose it. The extension then calls Perplexity's own web endpoints from that tab, the same kind of request the site makes for your library. Those requests go to Perplexity, not to us, and they use the session already in that tab. A page helper is limited to Perplexity export endpoints. It will not fetch other websites.

What is stored in the extension

Chrome's local storage on this browser holds a free-early-access switch, an optional license placeholder that is not sent anywhere, a count of finished bulk exports, and whether you have agreed to read the library. An on-device database holds the chat list, an in-progress export so it can resume, the files for the latest ZIP, and an error log. The error log records failures such as a changed page or a rate limit. It is not a copy of your chats. You can clear it in ThreadVault settings.

Early access

Bulk export is free in this version. No payment is collected, and the extension does not contact a payment server. If a paid license is added later, this policy will say what that call sends. It will not include chat contents.

Permissions

Storage is used for the settings above. Host access is limited to www.perplexity.ai and perplexity.ai so the extension can read your library from a tab you have open. ThreadVault does not ask for access to every website, and it does not ask for ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini in this version.

Downloads

A Markdown file or a ZIP is saved only when you click an export button. ThreadVault does not upload that file.

Third parties

Perplexity is a service of Perplexity AI. ThreadVault is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Perplexity, OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google. Perplexity's own privacy policy covers the account you sign into. Exporting your threads may be subject to Perplexity's terms.

Children

ThreadVault is not directed at children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top will change, the new text will ship inside the extension, and this page will be updated.
